WSOPE – Caesars Cup – Europe vs Americas
The inaugural WSOPE Caesars Cup has started today, a unique -made for televisision -Ryder Cup-style poker team event pitting the best American Poker Pros against the best Euoropean Pros.
Daniel Negreanu (oddly Canadian) Captains Team America with an all star team of established bricks and mortar players consisting of Phil Ivey,Phil Hellmuth, John Juanda, Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harman and late additions Huck Seed and Barry Greenstein
Meanwhile Team Europe Captain Annette Obrestad selection consists of online specialists Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri, Bertrand Grospellier, Patrik Antonius, Ilari Sahamies, online qualifier Scottish pipe fitter John Harvey (JOHN2204). Gus Hansen is the final addition to he team.
The first match will be Doubles: Alternate Bet similar to golf‘s Alternate Shot format.

(Update Match 3 Brunson/Harman v Obersrad/Minieri) Team USA win point 2-2 Team Europe
Two players compete per side. One player per side will play pre-flop and on the turn; the other player will play the flop and the river.
Once players are designated, their roles will not change.
Two matches of this format will be played, so that 4 of the 8 players on each team will be featured.
The next two matches will feature Doubles: Same Stack similar to the Best Ball format in golf.
Two new players compete per side sharing the same chip stack. Alternately playing two hands at a time so both have the button.After the doubles matches conclude, the matches will change to Heads-Up – if necessary.
A point is awarded for each match and the first team to four will win the cup.
