The WPT in Cyprus started today and of the ninety one players who either won a seat or paid the $10,300 buy in competing on day one(a), 63 were still in there fighting.
The day saw John Tabatabai (pictured) take an early lead with a huge 170k stack (not bad from a starting 40,000)
The rest of the field will start the tournament tomorrow. Because of the large numbers day 1 is spread out over two days.

The tournament held at the Merit Casino and Hotel in Northern Cyprus looks like it’s going to be a good one already.
