As the World Poker Tournament in Cyprus is just days away. We look at some of the stars heading to this beautiful island to compete for the huge first prize pot.

Probably the most famous professional visiting the WPT in Cyprus is twice World Series of Poker bracelet winner Howard Lederer.

This year alone, the Poker legend has won over $5 million in tournament prize money, but did you know these things interesting things about Howard?

• He was obese for much of his life. Gastric bypass surgery has allowed him to slim down to his current size.
• He has two sisters, one is fellow Poker professional Annie Duke, her nickname for her brother is Bub, shortened from ‘Bubba’ (after his surgery). The other is famous author, and poet Katy Lederer.
• His a devout vegan. Howard Lederer will not eat animal by products of any kind, unless it is for a bet. He once won $10,000 from fellow poker player David Grey by eating a cheeseburger!

Joining Lederer at the Merit Cyprus classic poker tournament in Northern Cyprus will be a host of Poker legends looking to take away the monster 1st place prize.
